US-Iran War Explodes: Trump Launches 90-Minute Daylight Strikes For 1St Time

In the past 24 hours, US President Donald Trump has amped up military campaign against Iran. The fragile interim ceasefire in the Middle East has completely disintegrated, with the United States escalating its military offensive by launching a fresh wave of daylight airstrikes against Iran on Wednesday (July 14). The U.S. military formally reimposed a naval blockade on all Iranian ports, while Tehran retaliated by targeting American allies across the Gulf and threatening to shut down all regional energy exports.

The unprecedented daytime bombardment marks a significant shift in U.S. tactics, as operations over the past several days had been strictly confined to nighttime strikes.

Trump Strikes Greater Tunb Island and Military Barracks

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that a 90-minute wave of daylight strikes heavily targeted Greater Tunb Island, a highly strategic outpost situated directly in the Strait of Hormuz. The Pentagon stated that the offensive successfully degraded Iranian coastal defense systems and cruise missile storage facilities.

According to statements from the Iranian Army and local health ministries, the barrage killed at least seven Iranian military personnel and left more than 260 people injured across the country. In response, the Iranian military has vowed to deliver a “decisive response” to the deadly base attack.

The Gulf monarchies of Bahrain and Kuwait both confirmed they came under direct attack early Wednesday. Bahraini air defense forces successfully shot down several incoming Iranian projectiles. However, an Iranian strike on a Kuwaiti Navy vessel wounded at least four troops. The IRGC also claimed to have launched fresh strikes against U.S. military logistical facilities in Jordan.

Trump Threatens Infrastructure as Naval Blockade Begins

The economic fallout is intensifying rapidly following the U.S. Navy’s enforcement of a total blockade on Iranian ports and coastal areas. Iran immediately retaliated with a stark warning, threatening to completely halt all Middle East energy exports traversing the vital maritime chokepoints. Consequently, Brent crude oil prices spiked above $85 a barrel—more than 15% higher than pre-war levels.

U.S. President Donald Trump, while backtracking on his previous proposal to charge international ships a “fee” for U.S. protection in the Strait of Hormuz, issued severe new warnings to Tehran. Trump stated that if Iran does not agree to a diplomatic deal, he will drastically expand the scope of U.S. strikes next week to include civilian infrastructure, specifically targeting Iranian power plants and bridges.
