NEW DELHI: Following weeks of intense controversy, nationwide protests, and allegations of systemic paper leaks, the National Testing Agency (NTA) finally released the Re-NEET result 2026 late Thursday (July 16). The highly scrutinized re-examination, which took place on June 21, saw nearly 20 lakh aspiring medical students retake the grueling entrance test after the original May iteration was completely scrapped due to integrity breaches.

The newly released data reveals that a total of 11.21 lakh candidates successfully met the qualifying threshold, clearing their path for admission into undergraduate medical (MBBS), dental (BDS), and various AYUSH programs across the country. In a notable demographic trend within the Re-NEET exam result 2026, female candidates significantly outperformed their male counterparts. Women accounted for more than 58% of the total qualified pool, boasting an overall qualification rate of 56.8% compared to the 55.1% rate achieved by men.

Who Topped In Re-NEET Results 2026?
At the very top of the merit list published in the results, two candidates—Aryan Gupta from Punjab and Panshul Bansal from Haryana—achieved a near-perfect score of 715 out of 720. When looking at regional performance, Uttar Pradesh dominated the state-wise statistics, producing over 1.7 lakh successful candidates.

However, the declaration of the Re-NEET result has done little to quell the political and social unrest surrounding the national examination body. At Jantar Mantar, prominent climate activist and educator Sonam Wangchuk continues his indefinite hunger strike, which has now crossed the 20-day mark.

Protesting in solidarity with the youth-led Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), Wangchuk and thousands of students are demanding sweeping systemic reforms and the immediate resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Despite the commencement of the Medical Counselling Committee’s (MCC) seat allocation process following the release of the NEET re result 2026, the shadow of the initial paper leak continues to loom large over this year’s academic calendar, leaving many students anxious about the fairness of the counseling rounds.
